Dear Hockey
friends:
In the Summer
of 2006, I had the opportunity to travel with my
two sons to a hockey tournament in Budapest, Hungary.
The tournament committee provided
the teams competing in the tournament with the opportunity to skate
with a professional ice skating (power
skating) coach. Nina
Nassen, of Sweden donned her skates and
took to the ice to work with our boys, providing
them with technique and instruction on how to become
a better skater. At first, our boys were joking and comical
about the situation, they thought how can this 5 foot
2 inch woman have an impact on their ability to play
this game that they so often thought of as
tough and physical? At the end of the 90 minute
session, she had them wanting more and humbled to
discover that they were still babes
when it comes to the game!
Throughout the tournament
we learned that Nina's resume included working with many Scandanavian
National teams, school teams and NHL'ers
alike and we spoke of the many benefits of her coming to the U.S. It is with that motivation that I have decided
to work with Nina on bringing a skating camp to
Western Massachusetts the week of August 2nd - 6th.
Yours Truly,
Peter Langlois
